Claudette Louise Thibault, 82, of So. Burlington passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester.
She was born July 15, 1941 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to Rodolphe and Yvonne (Gingras) Thibault. On June 2, 2013 she married her life partner of 41 years, Sandra Lucas.
In 1963, Claudette graduated from River University, Nashua, NH, and in 1964 from Rhode Island Hospital School of Medical Technology in Providence, RI. From that time she worked in laboratories in Rhode Island, Missouri, Illinois, and Vermont. She moved to Vermont in 1980 to be close to her parents who had retired in Canada to care for her grandparents. In 1998 she retired from Fanny Allen Hospital.
Claudette was predeceased by her parents, and three brothers, Maurice Thibault, Guy Thibault and his wife Kathleen, and Joseph Thibault and his wife Sue. She is survived by her wife Sandra Lucas; brothers-in-law Michael Lucas and wife Sue, Anthony Lucas and wife Diane; her nephews Patrick Thibault, Curt Lucas and wife Jackie; her nieces Amy Lucas-Brasseur and husband Robert, and Laura Lucas; great nieces Regina Thibault, Angel Brock and husband Justin, Olivia Lucas and partner Andrew Bass; great nephews Caleb Brasseur and partner Alexis Drew, and Zade Royce. She is also survived by her great-great nephews Dylan and Ethan Brock; her cousin Roger Gingras and wife Lynne, and lifelong childhood friend since age 16, Jan Mueller.
Claudette was a skilled crossword solver, and avid reader for fun and educational purposes. She was an avid fisherwoman and loved to travel with Sandra. She especially enjoyed Alaska, Hawaii, and New York City Broadway shows. Claudette loved her family, friends, coworkers whom many were considered friends, Sandra and kitties beyond words. Claudette and Sandra shared many happy years together living in Vermont, Massachusetts, and Florida.
At Claudette's request there will be no funeral services. Her lungs will be donated for research to help others with IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis). To aid in IPF research, donations in Claudette's memory can be made to: www.uvmfoundation.org/giving designation Dr. Dan Weiss Lab.
