David Gregory McCoy

November 26, 1983 – *May 26, 2026

David Gregory McCoy was born on November 26, 1983, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Deborah Veronica Bowman and the late David McCoy. He departed this life on May 26, 2026.

David was the third eldest of six siblings and shared a close bond with his family throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Raised in Brooklyn, New York, David was educated through the New York City public school system. He later attended Job Corps in Virginia, where he pursued vocational training and developed skills that would support him throughout his adult life. After completing his training, David returned to New York to begin building his future. Around 2014, he relocated to Burlington, Vermont, where he held various positions in the security and construction fields. During his time in Vermont, David became a member of New Alpha Missionary Baptist Church in Burlington.

David was known for his warm spirit, sense of humor, and love for family. He enjoyed preparing large meals for those he loved, spending time with his children, listening to music, and watching and playing sports. He had a playful nature that brought joy to those around him. David also enjoyed playing video games and had a special affection for his dogs. His laughter, kindness, and ability to bring people together will be remembered by all who knew him.

David leaves to cherish and honor his memory his beloved children: Deanna Yolanda McCoy, Aaliyh Lynn Buchanan (bonus daughter), Apollo McCoy, and Denaries Veronica McCoy.

He is also survived by his five siblings: Dr. Shellie Marcellous Bowman, Sr., and wife, Tia Bowman; Octavia Amanda Kidd and husband, Ricardo Kidd; Nicole Bernadette Winston; Falisha Monet Winston; and Vincent Jermain Winston; as well as eight nieces and nephews, extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were enriched by his presence.

Though David's time with us was far too brief, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May we find comfort in the moments shared, the lessons learned, and the love that remains.

"For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." Colossians 1:13-14 (NIV)
