Obituary

Judith "Judy" Lee Alligood

June 24, 1960 – November 11, 2025

Passed peacefully and with grace on November 11, 2025. By her side was her much beloved

husband, James Harvey Alligood, and nearby her sister-in-law, Lydia A Waldron (nee Alligood).

Judith was born in Milwaukee, WI, to Burton S. (OBM) and Sandra (nee Wolf) Miller. At the age

of four, her family moved to No. Miami Beach, FL. When she entered kindergarten, she had

already had a year of pre-K. Throughout her high school years, she was always a step

ahead. She fondly remembered her grandfather, S Joseph Wolf, teaching her as a very young

child how to read the stock page of the WSJ, the finer points of brandy, and how to cut and

smoke a cigar. ("Do not inhale"). Also important was Temple (Bat Mitzvah, Confirmation, and

"guest Cantor" some summer Saturdays and time spent there and outside of Temple with her

always loving, supportive, and endeared grandmother Sylvia (nee Reider) Wolf.

After graduating from Washington University, School of Business in St. Louis, MO. She successfully

pursued a graduate degree from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. There she began her banking

career and was the first and at the time only female member of First Atlanta Bank's Management

Trainee Program. She more than held her own and was never intimidated in a conference room

or other gathering of men only. Judith enjoyed an interesting career with both international and

regional banks, fulfilling a variety of roles and responsibilities, first as a commercial lender,

where she enjoyed on-site visits and getting to know the borrower and their business. Later

overseeing credit analysis and administration, she continued to enjoy the challenge of structuring

sound loans and mentoring staff members.

Judy wed Harvey, the love of her life, on March 24, 1996, in Miami, FL, where they met and

lived before moving to Milwaukee, WI, in 2001. She was passionate about gender equality and

that no one should be hungry. Wherever she lived, she volunteered either at a soup kitchen, food

bank, or pantry. She loved her morning coffee and quiet, polka dots, and scalloped edges on just

about anything. Fulfilling was finding, trying, and sharing either a good book or recipe. She

appreciated a beautifully set table, traditional, modern, or a blend of the two, as well as good

design and keeping it simple, whether it was well-made attire, accessories, or furniture. She was

fond of art shows and art glass, which she collected selectively, partial to the blue-green hues of

the ocean. Also, a mid-century green glass, which both of her grandmothers were also partial

to. A wonderful night for her was dinner with family and friends, made even better by being

followed by cards, mahjong, or the theatre.

Along with her beloved husband and dear sister-in-law, Judith is survived by her brother-in-law

Robert J Waldron, Jr., their children, Judy's cherished niece Nicole (Will) Layfield, and their nephew

Robert "Robby" (Stephanie) Waldron, along with her much-adored great-nephew and 4 great-nieces, and her Milwaukee sisters and cousins. She is also survived by Burt's grandchildren, Kristopher Macneil and Jennifer Macneil, and other dear relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandparents, her "Milwaukee Mothers"

Joyce Kahn (née Gordon) and Suzanne "Sue" Krasno (nee Biller), a dear second cousin, Sandra

Hoffman (nee Reider), Burt's beloved wife, Marilyn (nee Rosenberg, her daughter, Lori

Macneil (nee Nitkin); aunt, Muriel (nee Miller) and Sydney Miller; and uncle, Jordan and J.

Donna (nee Grossman) Miller. Each is a blessed memory.

Judy was a gift and will always be cherished.
