Obituary

The following is by her daughter, Jordan.

Kathleen M. Poirier (Cross), 58, passed away July 2, 2023, surrounded by Angels. Everyone knew my mom as kind and hardworking.

She was first and foremost known for her amazing gingerbread cookies. Her friends and co-workers were always looking forward to having "Kay's Cookies". What people might not know about my mom and comes first to my mind are her stories of the cross-country road trips she took with her parents and siblings; her stories of the years she lived in Massachusetts and all the fun adventurous rides we went on together.

My mom was a single parent who did everything in her power to provide for us and make all my animal loving dreams come true, one of our shared passions. It is for this reason that I ask if anyone wants to make a donation in my mom's memory to have it be made to Before The End Of The Line, a horse rescue we've worked with and also adopted horses from.

Kay was born on August 12, 1964, in Burlington, VT to Francis and Mary (Bachand) Cross. She was employed by the City of Burlington for the past 20 years where she held various positions, and for the past 11 years she worked for the Public Works Department.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Jordan, her most precious jewel. Her mother, Mary Cross, her brothers, Mark Cross and wife Debra, Shawn Cross and her sister, Anne Tognelli, her nephews and nieces, Justin and Evan Cross, Amy and Michael Baker, Anthony and Jessica Tognelli and their families. She also leaves behind many cousins and friends. She was loved by so many near and far and will be greatly missed.

Kay was predeceased by her father, Francis Cross, her sister, Mary Baker and her brother-in-law, Sergio Tognelli.

Special heartfelt thanks to the UVM Medical Center, Miller 5th Floor Medical Team, Dr. Lee-Anna Burgess, Dr. Kelsey Maguire and Dr. John Karpinski as well as Brian Drourr, MSW and the wonderful nurses and staff that provided exceptional care to Kay and for the support they gave to Anne and Shawn. We are truly grateful.

Donations in Kay's memory are to be sent to Before The End Of The Line, 564 Barkley Road, Harmony, PA 16037 or through PayPal address: just1quest@comcast.net.

A Celebration of Life for Kay will be held at a later date.
