Obituary

Leslie Mary Madden of South Burlington, Vermont passed away the morning January 19, 2024 at home with her daughters and sister by her side. Leslie was born on October 19, 1947 in Ticonderoga, New York, to Campbell and Mary NcNicol. Leslie was the youngest of three. She graduated from Schroon Lake Central School and later attended SUNY Cortland. She later moved to Waterville, Maine, where she met Edward Madden, her husband of 41 years, who passed away in October of 2023. Leslie leaves behind her sister, Elizabeth Wilson, two daughters, Lauren Madden and Kate Madden, Kate's partner Chris King, and two grandsons, Campbell and Maddox King.

For over two decades, Leslie and Ed owned and operated the Rotisserie Restaurant on Williston Road in South Burlington. The Roto became a beloved gathering place for friends and family, with many fond shared memories. When not at the Roto, Leslie was often found riding her horse, Simon, in South Hero, Vermont or with her close group of friends, the "Costa Rica ladies", named for one of their first trips together as a group.

After retirement, Leslie and Ed split their time between Leslie's hometown of Schroon Lake, New York, in the summer and Umatilla, Florida, during the winter months where they quickly found a community of likeminded RVers. They enjoyed exploring new places in their 5th wheel camper with their dachshund, Sam, and getting in as many rounds as possible on the golf course in the sunny Florida weather.

Leslie's memory will live on with her many friends, two daughters, and beloved grandsons who brought her so much joy in her final months. A joint celebration of life for both Leslie and Ed will be held in summer of 2024.
