Obituary

So. Burlington, VT

Stephen M. Taylor, 81, passed away peacefully Monday, August 18, 2025, following nearly a two-year battle with dementia.

Mike, (as he was commonly known) was born in Milton Vermont on August 11, 1944, the son of the late Edward L. Taylor and Margaret G. (Young) Taylor.

He dedicated his life to God and his family. He worked as a Security Guard for several years, as well as driving Taxi throughout the St. Albans area, and volunteering at the Teen Center where he enjoyed teaching kids how to play pool. After retiring, he moved to Arizona where he spent many years until moving back to Vermont in 2018. Mike was a free spirit and always had a smile on his face. He was also quite the jokester. He enjoyed telling his stories and jokes that made everyone laugh. He never allowed age to hold him back, even when he decided to purchase another motorcycle in his 70's. He had a love for the road and had made multiple cross-country trips throughout his life.

Mike is survived by his children Angela Ward (Gary) and their children Sarah Reed (Brandon), Stephen Rawson, and Garan Ward; Sommer Taylor and her children Nathan Taylor (Hunter), and Kayla Adams; Stephen Taylor (Sharon); and his 6 great-grandchildren he absolutely adored. He is also survived by sisters Priscilla Putnam (Stan), Joann Gordon, and Cynthia Taylor; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Mike was predeceased by his father Edward Taylor, his mother Margaret (Young) Taylor; his sisters, Barbara Coon and husband Christopher Coon, Marie Putnam and husband Francis Putnam, Rosemary Barrows and husband Stuart Barrows, Sheila Snaith and husband Larry Snaith, Edwina Taylor, and by his brother James Nutting.

A celebration of life is to follow. Family to be notified through his daughter, Sommer Taylor of time and location.
