Suzanne
Slesar
Mar 12, 1962 — Sep 25, 2026
Charlotte
The world shines less brightly today as we announce the death of our beloved Suzanne. She was a force to be reckoned with and loved her people fiercely. If you were lucky enough to be in her orbit, you knew that you were loved. She thrived on helping people get through their most difficult times rain or shine, day or night, whatever the need.
Suzanne was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on March 12, 1962, the eldest daughter of Carol Slesar and the late Stuart Slesar. She is survived by her mother, Carol; Her husband, John Sudarsky and their son Jayce Slesar; her sister, Lara and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom knew how much they were loved by her. She was predeceased by her brother, Eric Slesar.
Suz had many amazing and interesting careers over the years including as a fashion editor with Conde Nast in NYC; an elementary school teacher in Lincoln, Vt, operating a coffee cart on Church Street in Burlington, a social worker at King Street Youth Center; the Hair Fairy of Vermont and most recently the proprietor of the Groovyuvey specialty basket delivery business at UVM. She had many other fun and interesting forays, too many to name.
She was a lover of music, in particular of Phish and Ellis Paul, all of whom she was good friends with. She was a skilled guitar player, something she kept on the down low, recently and had taken up rug hooking and enjoyed time spent with her hooker friends. She loved water, be it hanging out on the lake floating, or soaking up the sunshine in her swimming pool or exercising with her friends at the fitness center. And most of all she loved being a mom to her beloved son Jayce.
Suzanne's web of interconnectivity reached deeply and extensively into the community. She had people who loved her everywhere. And they all mattered to her. She always made the time to catch up with them and learn how they and their loved ones were doing and provide advice, insight, assistance, compassion, and loving friendship whenever and wherever it was needed. Her departure from this world leaves a void in all the hearts she touched and will be something those she loved and who loved her will feel forever.
The family will hold a celebration of life at a future date. In the meantime, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the King Street Youth Center or The Waterwheel Foundation in her memory.
