Obituary

Terrence "Terry" Allan Pitts, of Essex Junction, Vermont, passed away on Monday, April 27th, 2026. Born on July 21, 1942, in Troy, New York, he was the son of Samuel Pitts and Helen Kohler Pitts, both of whom predeceased him.

His career endeavors included work as a master mechanic, painter and restoration craftsman, milkman, and even selling vegetables door-to-door. He was a gifted painter with an eye for detail, often restoring old farmhouses and bringing their character back to life. Those around him quickly recognized how naturally talented he was with anything mechanical or hands‑on. His love for NASCAR ran deep, and he proudly spent time on a pit crew at Thunder Road, working alongside driver Robbie Crouch.

Terry leaves behind daughters: Shelli Guay, Kelly Spencer, Wendy Derstine, and his bonus daughter Tawnya Safer. He was a proud grandfather to Emma Carlson, Mady Dostie, Noah Spencer, Hannah Safer, and Matthew Safer, and a delighted great‑grandfather to Isabelle.

He was predeceased by his sisters Nancy Holden and Sandra Prior. He is survived by his nieces and nephews Mark Holden, Allison Quinlan, Gregory Prior, Laurie Prior, and Bradley Prior, and was predeceased by nephew Lee Holden and niece Lisa Echo.

He was a deep thinker with a talent for getting to the heart of things. Those who knew Terry will remember his craftsmanship, his appreciation for the simple things, and the pride he took in his family, especially his grandchildren.

Honoring Terry's wishes, there will be no formal services, and he will be cremated as he requested.

He will be deeply missed and held in loving memory by those who were closest to him.
